GameShadow is a freeware utility that keeps PC gamers up-to-date with patches, game demos, movies, mods and other content for PC games. Users tell GameShadow where their games are installed, and GameShadow identifies the exact version of each game. It then checks its database to determine which updates are available for those games. It is available for Microsoft Windows only. GameShadow is based in Over Norton, Oxfordshire, England. GameShadow was previously a subscription service. In May 2006, it announced that it was available for free.
In June 2007, GameShadow announced it had achieved over 750,000 registered users and had raised £250,000 to expand its social networking features
